A hand-made doll is much more than a toy. It’s a form of self-expression, self-care, and a safe way to consider identity. Each step of this project adds another handwork skill to the toolbox, including numerous hand stitches, knots, and soft sculpture techniques. Working from the inside out, these dolls include many hidden secrets, while also being a canvas for the student’s style, personality, and interests. Hand-sewn clothing and accessories bring these little beings to life, transforming a traditional toy into a unique work of Art.

This class is suitable for students ages 11 and up.
All materials for the doll are included. Students will be encouraged to use their own materials and old clothes to create the doll’s wardrobe and accessories.
Good basic sewing skills are needed to do well in this class.
